On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, yum fails with with error "[Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 51"

Issue

• On RHEL 6, yum install fails with with error [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 51

• On RHEL 6, yum install fails with with error Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: rhel-x86_64-server-6. Please verify its path and try again

• On RHEL 6 if you enter the serverURL as the short name instead of FQDN of satellite then it fails with an error. But doing the same on RHEL5 it works without any errors.
