Can hammer upload files or packages bigger than 2MB to a repository, while direct API has this limit?

Issue

API documentation puts a 2MB limit to upload a file or package to a repository and bigger files must be uploaded after splitting to smaller chunks.
Isn't hammer limited the same way? Can hammer upload bigger files without a problem?
