JWS/JBCS fails to start with "httpd/lib/libaprutil-1.so.0: file too short"

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We're trying to start a new install of EWS httpd and it fails like so:
# ./apachectl start
/jboss-ews-2.0/httpd/sbin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: /jboss-ews-2.0/httpd/lib/libaprutil-1.so.0: file too short
  • We're trying to start a new install of JWS3 httpd and it fails like so:
/opt/redhat/jws-3.0/httpd/sbin/httpd: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/redhat/jws-3.0/httpd/sbin/../lib/libapr-1.so.0: file too short
  • The fresh installation of JBCS Apache httpd is not creating symlinks in httpd/lib.
