When trying to upgrade OpenShift environment using Blue/Green Deployment method, cannot register new system with old system's identity

Issue

I'm trying to upgrade my OpenShift environment using Blue/Green Deployment method, and I'm seeing the following errors:

# subscription-manager register --consumerid=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
This system is already registered. Use --force to override

However, when I use the --force option, I get this error:

# subscription-manager register --consumerid=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX --force
Error: Can not force registration while attempting to recover registration with consumerid. Please use --force without --consumerid to re-register or use the clean command and try again without --force.

How can I register this system correctly?
