HA VMs on failed SPM host are restarted before SPM failover finishes

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • The SPM host had multiple HA VMs running on it. This host had crashed and these HA VMs were restarted on other hypervisor before another hypervisor had taken over the SPM role. This caused VM start up failure and those VMs remained down forever requiring manual intervention.

  • If the SPM host becomes non-responsive, any HA VMs running on it should be restarted only after SPM failover completes.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.1
