ESXi Hosts are unable to register while using virt-who in Red Hat Satellite.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • In Red Hat Satellite UI as well as in virt-who logs hosts-to-guests mapping is reporting as 0 hypervisors and 0 guests.

    • EXAMPLE 1: In the virt-who config file has an entry of filter_hosts=esx1.example.com but the output of command virt-who -p reports the name as esx1 so in this case, virt-who will not work as expected because esx1 and esx1.example.com are two different hosts now.

    • EXAMPLE 2: In the virt-who config file has an entry of filter_hosts=esx1.example.com but the output of command virt-who -p reports the name as esx01 so in this case, virt-who will not work as expected because esx01 and esx1.example.com are two different hosts now.

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 6.x
