[Errno 14] HTTP Error is seen intermittently when using yum to update or install packages

Issue

  • When installing or updating packages, the following error messages are seen:

    Unable to retrieve repo metadata
[Errno 14] HTTP Error 501: Not Implemented ... or ...

  • Running yum update generates the following error:

    [Errno 14] HTTP Error 503: Service Unavailable ... or ...
