Miimon is not enabled when configuring Bond mode 4 via RHEV Manager

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.1, 3.2

Issue

  • Miimon is not enabled when configuring Bond mode 4 via RHEV Manager
Bonding Mode: IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic link aggregation
Transmit Hash Policy: layer2 (0)
MII Status: up
MII Polling Interval (ms): 0
Up Delay (ms): 0
Down Delay (ms): 0
  • MII Polling interval is set as 0 when configuring bonding mode 4

Resolution

From RHEV Manager 3.3, the miimon=100 parameter is now set by default for preset bonding options. This allows the kernel to poll for the status of bonded NICs.

Root Cause

Miimon parameter is not passed by RHEV-M while configuring bonding mode 4. It was a bug being tracked by internal Bugzilla 970824.

Diagnostic Steps

  1. cat /proc/net/bonding/bond0 from RHEV-Hypervisor
