Why are some VMs unable to start after losing connectivity with NFS storage with 'truesize' error?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Storage arrays powered off causing storage connection failure. Once storage was brought back on-line and reconnected to RHEV environment some VMs are unable to start.

  • Events messages in RHEV-M show the following for each VM.

VM VMNAME was started by USER (Host: HOSTNAME).
VM VMNAME is down. Exit message: 'truesize'.
Failed to run VM VMNAME on Host HOSTNAME.
VM VMNAME was restarted on Host HOSTNAME
VM VMNAME is down. Exit message: 'truesize'.
Failed to run VM VMNAME on Host HOSTNAME
VM VMNAME was restarted on Host HOSTNAME
VM VMNAME is down. Exit message: 'truesize'.
