On RHEL 8 server, "/etc/yum.repos.d/redhat.repo" file is not editable

Issue

  • It has been observed that manual edit of "/etc/yum.repos.d/redhat.repo" is not working on RHEL 8.

  • Thus it is not possible to enable/disable repos by editing the file.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • subscription-manager-1.23.8-1.el8.x86_64
  • yum-4.0.4-1.el8.noarch
  • dnf-4.0.4-1.el8.noarch
  • PackageKit-1.1.10-6.el8.x86_64
