'multipath -ll' shows device names different than what is configured in the bindings_file in RHEL 5 or 6

Issue

  • multipath -ll shows devices that are named differently than what is in the bindings_file
  • My multipath maps are named incorrectly

  • If I query multipath for mpath1 it returns mpath7:

    # multipath -ll mpath1
    mpath7 (360050768018105b608000000000002d5) dm-7 IBM,2145
    [size=32G][features=1 queue_if_no_path][hwhandler=0][rw]
    \_ round-robin 0 [prio=100][active]
