Getting error: "Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: rhel-x86_64-server-6. Please verify its path and try again" after registering Satellite

Issue

• After registering a host on our satellite the following error occurs:

Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: rhel-x86_64-server-6. Please verify its path and try again

• This error disappears when using http instead of https on the serverURL line in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date. For example:

serverURL=http://server.ip.address.here/XMLRPC

Instead of:

serverURL=https://server.ip.address.here/XMLRPC
