- Why does X-Windows selects incorrect monitor resolution for mga card when EDID fetch fails on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL 6)?

The same problem also occurs during installation:

if the server is connected to a monitor or video switch not capable of passing EDID information

with RHEL6 on a headless server using remote KVM.
