Possibility to define default sub-domain for kafka cluster routes

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The default sub domain is set up with a certificate signed by a trusted CA. Customer manage these in a loadbalancer in front of Openshift, to limit the number of machines/clusters that need to be changed when customer get a new certificate. In Openshift we use the selfsigned certificate so the setup in the loadbalancer is tls reencrypt to this domain. This makes the tls handshake to the kafka cluster fail.
  • Customer would like to have the possibility to setup a seperate subdomain for kafka clusters in openshift so that he can set the loadbalancer for routes on this subdomain to use passthrough and not reencrypt
