Why does putty encounter the gedit WARNING - Set document metadata failed ?

Issue

  • After saving a file which was accessed through gedit , putty leaves such warnings on the console.

     (gedit:25346): WARNING : Set document metadata failed: Setting attribute metadata::gedit-spell-language not supported
 (gedit:25346): WARNING : Set document metadata failed: Setting attribute metadata::gedit-encoding not supported
 (gedit:25346): WARNING : Set document metadata failed: Setting attribute metadata::gedit-position not supported

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4
  • gedit
