Mounting a LogicalVolume gives "wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock"
Issue
- Mounting a Logical Volume fails with the following output:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/oravg/ora03,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
/var/log/messages(ordmesg) shows:
kernel: ext3: No journal on filesystem on dm-213
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Logical Volume Manager (LVM)
- assuming an ext3 fileystem (but actually is ext2)
- multipath
