Support for Multi vCenter without shared storage in Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • In kubernetes verison 1.9 multi vCenter support was added as per https://vmware.github.io/vsphere-storage-for-kubernetes/documentation/prerequisites.html. Problem is that it requires shared storage between the multiple data-centers which is not something that is provided in most of these cases. It therefore would be nice if multiple work-spaces can be defined with the different vCenters to have storage created in one of the given vCenter (based on a StorageClass).

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.x
