NetworkManager 1.10.2 fails to activate a VLAN whose parent is a bond and is referred to by UUID. An error is seen: "couldn't create the device: VLAN devices can not be created without a parent interface"

Issue

  • After updating to NetworkManager 1.10.2 from RHEL 7.5, a VLAN interface fails to activate on boot and an error like the following is seen in the logs:

    NetworkManager[697]: <info>  [1524481321.0608] audit: op="connection-activate" uuid="58a0656c-6592-498c-8ba1-9564f72d985b" name="VLAN connection 1" result="fail" reason="Failed to find a compatible device for this connection"
