/boot/grub2/grubenv is changed to a dead symlink if the grub2-efi package is installed on non-uefi machine.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • If the package grub2-efi is installed on a non-uefi machine, it will delete the existing /boot/grub2/grubenv file and recreate it as a symlink to /boot/efi/EFI/redhat/grubenv. This can potentially cause a server not to boot, sosreport to throw an error, and rear to fail to restore properly.

Environment
