HPE server panics after installing Meltdown/Spectre errata
Issue
- After installing patches for the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabililtes, the system will not boot
- The system shows a stack trace similar to the one in the diagnostics section below
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 with
kernel-3.10.0-693.11.6.el7 - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 with
kernel-3.10.0-514.36.5.el7 - HPE UV, MC99x, or Superdome Flex server
