SUID and SGID are not being preserved for nfs shares hosted on Windows.

Issue

  • SGID and SUID does not work for nfs-server which is hosted on a windows system.
  • Can not set SUID or SUID on NFS.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux does not honor the SUID and SGID fields.
  • setgid setuid does not work against a nfs share hosted on windows.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Microsoft Windows as the NFS server
