Cannot restore a ReaR backup: ERROR: Partition number '' of partition is not a valid number

Issue

  • When using a GPT partition, trying to restore a ReaR backup may fail with the following error

    ERROR: Partition number '' of partition is not a valid number
    ERRO: Partition is numbered ''. More than 128 partition is not supported
    Aborting due to an error, check log for details 
    
  • When creating the ReaR rescue image (using rear mkrescue or rear mkbackup), the ReaR log file shows the following line

    sed: -e expression #1, char 12: unknown option to `s'
