sudo does not escape the backslash characters contained in user names properly on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • We have had problems integrating sudo with LDAP/Active Directory. We use Likewise as our primary authentication mechanism and when we try to use sudo, it fails around a bug that is related to the escaping of a “slash” in the LDAP query. We were able to identify the issue and found that it was fixed in the upstream sudo code.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • sudo-1.7
