strace ends with in an input/output error when detaching from a process

Issue

  • strace gives the following error when detaching from a process:

strace: ptrace(PTRACE_CONT,1,133): Input/output error

  • The process being traced stays in SIGSTOP

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5
  • strace-4.5.18-5.el5_4.4
