Persistent volume claim fails to bound to Amazon EBS backend PV

Issue

The deployment will fail with the error:

Failed to attach volume "pv01" on node "node1.example.com" with: Error attaching EBS volume "vol-xxx" to instance "i-xxx": VolumeInUse: vol-xxx is already attached to an instance status code: 400, request id: XXX-XX-XXX. The volume is currently attach to instance "i-yyy"
