RHEL7.4: After updating to autofs-5.0.7-69.el7 option parsing for maps with fstype=autofs no longer works

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • After updating to RHEL7.4, our automaps in use for many years break with this release of autofs-5.0.7-69.el7. These maps have been working for the last 5 years across RHEL 6 and 7. This version of autofs no longer passes the host variable which is an option on a map with fstype=autofs
  • Our automount maps use submounts and macros and no longer work in RHEL7
  • automout map entry options are getting ignored after updating to autofs-5.0.7-69.el7

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4
    • autofs-5.0.7-69.el7
  • one or more map entries with 'fstype=autofs' and one or more options on the autofs map
    • Example ('ro' option is ignored) * -fstype=autofs,ro file:/etc/auto.bz1497846.sub
