Seeing the number of EJB timer threads is increased after migrating to JBoss EAP 5.2

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • After updating from EAP 5.1.2 to 5.2 I noticed the ejb-timer threads was constantly 4 in JBoss EAP 5.1.2 and in JBoss EAP 5.2.0, the threads are increasing, every time when the scheduler in the application is executing the number of threads increases by one. Why are the threads not reused in EAP 5.2, is this by design or a bug?

  • How can I configure the minsize, maxsize/or and timeout parameters of only this EJB-Timer threadpool? Or is the number the 50 threads I observe hardcoded?

Environment

  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
    • 5.2.x and later
