How to prevent keepalived vip being taken over by higher priority node when it comes back online?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • keepalived node default behavior is once the master fails, VIP gets floated to backup server and when the master come back online the VIP is taken by the master server which will serve the internal requests.
  • If the above behavior is not what is expected i,e when the master node comes back online VIP should not failback until the backup server does not goes down.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.6 and later.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.
  • Keepalived.
