Why does the system drop to dracut prompt on boot when the root file system comes from a RAID controller?

mpt3sasreports some messages like the following:mpt3sas0: failure at drivers/scsi/mpt3sas/mpt3sas_scsih.c:7884/_scsih_probe()! -
System does not boot and drops to dracut prompt because it cannot find the root file system
