Issue

  • System suddenly resets
  • Issue noticed after an upgrade to Oracle
  • Kdump is configured, but no vmcore is generated
  • Machine Check Exception errors noted in the logs
  • Issue can be reproduced by running:
# cat /dev/port

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
