How to retain xml config content with Jboss Restarts

Issue

• with every jboss server group / server restart all war files get redployed. with this we loose settings done inside app which is stored in possibly content directory.
  is there any way we can change configuration behaviour such that with war redeployment during startup, xml files could be excluded.this will help retain our config. we cant extenalize these properties and settings outside war file.
