JAAS JBoss Authorization Framework Performance Degradation in JBoss EAP 5

Issue

  • We've noticed substantial performance degradation with JBoss JAAS module from JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 4.3 to JBoss EAP 5.0.0. We were able to reproduce this issue with the JBoss built-in JMX-console auth.
  • A org.jboss.security.identity.plugins.SimpleRole object is being created with every request, resulting in increased garbage collection activity due to SimpleRole object churn.
