The system logs a warning "Please reboot with intremap=off" in the system log
Issue
- The following warning is logged in the
dmesg
output or in the system log:
[Hardware Error]: This system BIOS has enabled interrupt remapping
on a chipset that contains an errata making that
feature unstable. Please reboot with intremap=off
added to the kernel command line and contact
your BIOS vendor for an update

Interrupt remapping enabled causes various problems on systems with the Intel 5500 and 5520 chipsets (revision 0x13) and the Intel X58 chipset (revisions 0x12, 0x13, 0x22).

The symptoms can range from network link state flapping and partial to the complete loss of the network connectivity with the probable following messages in the system log:
kernel: do_IRQ: X.Y No irq handler for vector (irq -1)

- Intel 5500 and 5520 chipsets (revision 0x13)
- Intel X58 chipset (revisions 0x12, 0x13, 0x22)
