When using tar over NFS, why am I getting the warning: "tar: </path/to/file> file changed as we read it" ?
Issue
- While using the
tarcommand to access files on an NFS shared filesystem, the error message below is sometimes printed:
$ tar: </path/to/file>: file changed as we read it
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 with Non-RHEL NFS Server
- NFS Client
