Getting 'fcoemon: Failed to connect to lldpad' messages with FCoE configuration

Issue

  • As per the kernel documentation for FCoE configuration while configuring FCoE for BCM57810 interfaces, lldpap service is to be disabled since this adapter has DCBX/LLDP client on-chip:

    #  lldptool set-lldp -i eth8 adminStatus=disabled
adminStatus = disabled

#  lldptool get-lldp -i eth8 adminStatus
adminStatus=disabled

    But if the FCoE is configured without lldpad then /var/log/messages file is continuously getting filled with following errors:

    fcoemon: error 111 Connection refused
fcoemon: Failed to connect to lldpad

    For BCM57810 interfaces fcoemon should not try to connect to lldpad as the CNA adapter has h/w support for DCBX client processing as documented in above kernel documentation.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7
  • Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM57810 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter
  • Any FCoE CNA Adapters with h/w support for DCBX client processing
