RHEL 5 metacity windows that appear under the mouse cursor are not getting focus when 'sloppy' focus mode is set and 'strict' focus_new_windows is set

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • If focus_new_windows is set to "strict" in metacity and focus_mode set to "sloppy", if a new window launched from a terminal appears under the current mouse pointer, focus is not being set to the new window.
  • In focus_mode sloppy, it appears you have to enter the window boundaries for focus to get set.
  • Focus should shift to the new window if the pointer appears inside the window when it is created.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.4
  • metacity-2.16.0-12.el5
