Why don't I see startup messages at the console during a boot?
Issue
- After the
GRUBscreen appears ("Booting Red Hat Enterprise Linux") a progress bar is shown until the login prompt appears, but none of the expected service started messages.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
