With third-party "Courier New" font installed, non-Latin (e.g. Arabic) characters aren't printing properly

Issue

We have an application using the "Courier new" font. Reports with Arabic and English letters are displayed perfect on the screen, but when printed, the Arabic letters are not printed properly. I downloaded and installed the "Courier New" font.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.4.2
