OSPF database not purging entries when neighbor relationship has terminated

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • OSPF database is not purging entries when a RHEL system with two interfaces where one is configured with OSPF area 0, the other uses BGP. Routes are redistributed bi-directionally. During failover tests a cable was pulled out of the interface running OSPF. The link went down, and the OSPF neighborship was removed, which is expected. However, the OSPF database still contained entries and therefore was advertising via BGP, which is unexpected.
