Why does online discard not seem to work for SSD devices?
Issue
Storage space does not seem to get cleared after data gets deleted from the ext4 file-system even if its specified with the discard option in fstab, or mounted manually using -o discard. Running fstrim manually works.
Official documentation for block discard mentions that online discard is supported on ext4. Why is this not reflecting in the available storage space ?
