grub2-install failed with the error message 'error: unknown filesystem' with /boot partition formatted with xfs during backup recovery with rear

Issue

  • rear recover doesn't work from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3.
  • rear mkbackup looks working well, but rear recover in the rescue image failed with the following error when XFS is used for /boot.
    grub2-install: error: unknown filesystem.
