Bonding parameter primary_reselect=failure does not work properly

Issue

  • When bonding option primary_reselect=failure is specified, the primary interface should not become active even after the link gets up. But with RHEL 6.7, the primary interface does become active.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 or earlier
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 with kernel-2.6.32-573.el6 to kernel-2.6.32-573.17.1.el6
  • Bonding in mode=1 (active-backup) with primary_reselect=failure
