Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

Issue

  • Which Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions are supported by Red Hat Lightspeed?

  • Unable to install insights-client package on RHEL 5.x servers

  • Does Red Hat Lightspeed work with CentOS / Fedora / Ubuntu / Windows / etc?

Resolution

  • Red Hat Lightspeed can be used on all Red Hat-supported versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux i.e. version 6.10 and later.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 are not supported.

  • Non-Red Hat operating systems like CentOS, Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux, AlmaLinux are generally not supported by Red Hat Lightspeed. The service is designed specifically for Red Hat platforms and is included as a benefit of Red Hat subscriptions.

  • Red Hat provides limited support for adding CentOS 7 hosts to Red Hat Lightspeed, but strictly for the purpose of migrating them to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Outside of converting systems to RHEL, there are no plans to support other vendors or other Linux distributions like (Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux, AlmaLinux)
