Why do I see the message "multipath: map garbage collection" more often than polling_interval in RHEL 5 with device-mapper-multipath?

Issue

  • The multipath daemon appears to be going some garbage collection every 5 seconds, even with the polling interval is set to 30 (which results in polling every 4*30s)
