Unexporting a file system with 'exportfs -u' returns an error code if the IP does not resolve to any hostname in RHEL 7

Issue

  • I'm running exportfs -u to remove an export, and it returns a failure, yet seems to actually unexport the file system correctly anyways.
  • Unexporting with exportfs -u returns 1 but still removes the export

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • nfs-utils
  • Exporting to more than one individual IP addresses that do not resolve to a hostname in DNS, /etc/hosts, or other name resolution sources
