PCP fails to start on systems running other processes with the same names

Issue

  • The PCP pmcd process is not running any more. The result is that pmlogger_check gives errors that it cannot connect to pmcd anymore. There is a pmcd in the ps output, but this is from UniSpool and not from PCP.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 and 7
  • Performance Co-Pilot (PCP)
