Adding A Third Party Repository That Is Protected With A User Name And Password In Red Hat Satellite 5.x.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

Have read the How to add third party repositories (e.g. EPEL for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6) in Red Hat Satellite 5.x? knowledge centered solution and have attempted to add a repository that is protected by a user name (jason@customer.com) & password (jasonspassword). The URL of the repository being entered in Satellite 5's Repository URL field is:

http://jason@customer.com:jasonspassword@repo.example.com/path/to/content

However, upon trying to sync the repository, this error is encountered:

Sync started: Tue Jul 26 09:31:38 2016
['/usr/bin/spacewalk-repo-sync', '--channel', 'example_repo', '--type', 'yum', '']
Repo URL: http://jason@customer.com:jasonspassword@repo.example.com/path/to/content
ERROR: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: example_repo. Please verify its path and try again
Sync completed.
