VLAN tagged packets leak to untagged slaves

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • VLAN tagged packets leak to untagged slaves
  • vlan packets appear on the main network interface in RHEL 6.7 and 7.2
  • Ethernet traffic to a tagged interface (eg: eth2.800) can be received on the underlying untagged interface (eg: eth2).
  • This occurs on RHEL 6.7 and 7.2, but didn't occur on RHEL 6.6 with the old VLAN model.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 and later (kernel-2.6.32-573.el6 series and later)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0 and later (kernel-3.10.0-123.el7 series and later)
  • 802.1Q VLAN interfaces
  • Raw sockets (i.e. socket(PF_PACKET, SOCK_RAW))
