Getting "write error: Invalid argument" when scanning for storage devices

Issue

• Problems scanning for new storage devices.

• We always were able to scan disks using the following syntax, but am now getting errors:

  echo "0 0 17" >  /sys/class/scsi_host/host0/scan 
  -bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument
  

• Need to understand what has changed in RHEL that makes this command no longer work.
