Printing to a Lexmark printer doesn't work in RHEL

Issue

  • We are unable to print documents to a Lexmark printer (Lexmark CX510 and MS810). We see the following errors in the CUPS error_log:

    E [07/Apr/2016:11:37:14 -0700] [Job 416] Unable to start filter "/usr/lib/cups/filter/fax-pnh-filter" - No such file or directory.
E [07/Apr/2016:11:37:14 -0700] [Job 416] Stopping job because the scheduler could not execute a filter.

  • Printer stopped working:

    (/usr/lib/cups/filter/LexFaxPnHFilter) stopped with status 113 (Permission denied)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)
  • Some Lexmark Printers
